The ORHI project aims to contribute to the evolution of the food sector within POCTEFA territory towards a Circular Economy by promoting inter-company synergies, identifying Innovative Solutions, and supporting their development in the territory. ORHI focuses on the “organic matter” and “plastic” resources of the food value chain. The project name ORHI (a mountain peak at the French-Spanish border) reflects its cross-border challenge.
Every year in the European Union:
Between 31% and 39% of these plastics will go to incineration and landfill, and only 6% of the demand for plastic comes from recycled plastic.
In this context, ORHI’s challenge is to contribute to generating scenarios of more efficient use of “organic matter” and “plastic” in the territorial food value chain activities (Euskadi, Navarre, La Rioja, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrenees, Haute-Garonne, Ariège and Pyrénées-Orientales).
Characterisation of the main sources of organic and plastic materials in the POCTEFA territories.
Detection of common issues and opportunities in the territories.
Detect IT and NBM in regions involved in ORHI and other countries around the world.
